Recorded February 9-27 2008 | Total time: 19′19″
Something i’ve been playing with for the last couple of weeks. Just a rough cut and as such not finished yet. Part iii Clair de lune (the one from the Chanel No.5 ad) needs a lot of work… Part v. Arabesque No. 1 is my fav although it isn’t part of this suite i think it fits. I also like this cover too.
Suite Bergamasque beta | 192k | 27.4mb

Like an all-nighter of old (SUNSET RADIO). Finger on pause button (yes, i recorded it), bottle of Absolut, Diet coke, lemon juice, ice and 12 hours in and out of consciousness listening to the Autechre Webcast. Amazing mixed bag of stuff – too much to mention.

During 2007 I spent most of my free time discovering the works of Erik Satie. I have always been humbled by the genius in his work. This collection of work is a personal journey through different moods and emotions that I have felt over the year and through listening to Satie’s music over the years. As such, I have tried to convey this the best that I can using not just piano for which these pieces were intended, but, using full orchestration too.
Apology
I am by no means a professional musician, just a hobbyist. In a number of cases, I have not been faithful to the original compositions in respect of composition, time signature and tempo. I wanted to produce personal versions of the work that encapsulates the spirit of how I would selfishly want to hear them. Heresy? Maybe. But, I think that Satie would approve. I think that he would be glad that his work has inspired someone like myself to interpret it over a hundred years after he wrote them.
How I put them together
All the audio is digital using samples and the following software: Propellerhead Reason, iTunes and a couple of Macintoshes.
Please let me know what you think
You are free to download and distribute these pieces as you wish, after all they are in the public domain now. If you really like this stuff please tell your friends and get them to visit and comment – I’d love to know what you think, love it or hate it — I used to recently work as a creative in advertising so I can take rejection.

Do your conscience a favour
If this work has touched you and as such feel strongly compelled to donate some cash then hey, who I am to stop such a desire. 60% of any money received from this project will be donated to the Innocent Foundation at the end of 2008. The rest I will use to get a dedicated site and more equipment and do more work for you to (hopefully) enjoy.
Finally
If you would like slightly rough around the edges, handmade-one-of-a-kind and personalised CD with extra tracks that will not be available on this site (£10 inc postage worldwide) then please get in touch via (1): slightlyrougharoundtheedges / @ / googlemail / dot / com or (2) post a request on this page and I will get back to you asap.
Pics coming soon. Thanks for dropping by!
